Courage in the Cold

Main Scripture:

"Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go." — Joshua 1:9 (NIV)

Biblical Context:

Joshua is standing at the edge of the Promised Land, staring down battles, giants, and uncertainty. Moses is gone. The wilderness is behind. And the weight of leadership is on his shoulders.

God doesn’t give Joshua a pep talk. He gives him a command:
Be strong. Be courageous. I’m with you.

Notice the command isn’t, “Don’t feel fear.”
It’s, “Don’t let fear decide.”
Courage is obedience in the presence of fear, not the absence of it.

Supporting Scriptures:

Psalm 27:1
"The Lord is my light and my salvation—whom shall I fear?"

Isaiah 41:13
"Do not fear; I will help you."

Deuteronomy 31:6
"Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified… for the Lord your God goes with you."

Dreams die. People disappoint. Hope fades.

Courage isn’t loud. It doesn’t always look heroic.
Sometimes it looks like showing up anyway.
Praying when you feel numb.
Trying again when you’d rather quit.
Trusting when the outcome is unclear.

That’s holy courage—and it changes everything.

Challenge for The Week:

Where is fear trying to call the shots in your life?

Today, make one courageous move. A conversation. A prayer. A step forward.

Say:
“I choose courage, not because I’m fearless, but because God is with me.”

Prayer:

God, I feel the cold. I feel the fear. But I choose courage, not because I’m strong, but because you are with me. Help me trust you enough to take the next step, no matter how uncertain the
