The Peace Jesus Promised
Main Scripture:
“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” John 14:27 (NIV)
Biblical Context:
Jesus spoke these words to His disciples the night before His death. The atmosphere was tense. The cross was coming. Fear was thick. And yet—He spoke peace.
Not just any peace. His peace.
Not escape. Not silence. Not the absence of pain.
A calm rooted in who He is, not what’s happening.
Jesus knew His followers would face chaos, persecution, and confusion. So He gave them a gift—peace that doesn’t shake when the world does.
Supporting Scriptures:
Isaiah 26:3~“You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you.”
Colossians 3:15~“Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts…”
Romans 5:1~“We have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.”
Reflection:
The world offers peace that depends on control, convenience, and comfort. But Jesus offers something deeper a peace that holds even when everything falls apart. This peace is not passive. It fights fear. It steadies the heart. It doesn’t ignore pain it outlasts it. If you’re waiting for life to calm down before you feel peace, you’ll be waiting forever. Jesus says, You can have peace now because you have Me now.
Challenge for The Week:
Ask yourself: Have I been chasing peace from the wrong source?
What would it look like to receive peace from Jesus today not from your to-do list, not from people, not from circumstances?
Say out loud:
“Jesus, I receive Your peace. Not as the world gives—but as You give.”
Prayer:
Jesus, thank You for offering me a peace that doesn’t depend on how things look or feel. Teach me to live steady in You, even when the world is unsteady. Let Your peace rule my heart today. All this I ask in Jesus name Amen!
